PLT is an award-winning environmental education program designed for teachers and other educators of students in grades PreK-12. PLT is a national program operating in all 50 states, several US territories and numerous other countries. It is a grassroots, volunteer network of teachers, schools, state agencies, business and civic organizations, nature centers, youth groups, and more. Click here to go to National PLT's home page.
PLT activities aren't just for teaching science! They cover all disciplines and deal with the total environment -- land, air, and water. PLT activities are correlated to New Hampshire Curriculum Frameworks for Language Arts, Science, Social Studies & Mathematics.
NH Project Learning Tree uses New Hampshire's forests to enhance student understanding and appreciation of the ecological, social and economic values of our natural resources; to stimulate critical and creative thinking; to develop the ability to make informed decisions on environmental issues; and to take responsible action on behalf of the environment.
PLT helps students develop critical thinking skills by giving them the tools to analyze and evaluate environmental issues in order to make informed decisions. PLT teaches students how to think about the environment, not what to think.
