Outdoor Classroom Special Fund

NH Project Learning Tree is very pleased to announce the creation of the Outdoor Classroom Special Fund, a dedicated fund that celebrates and honors the leadership of our founding Executive Director, Esther Cowles.

NH Project Learning Tree measures success in many ways. For Esther, the best measure was the amount of time kids spent outdoors investigating and improving their local environment. NH Project Learning Tree boosts teachers’ skills and knowledge, builds their confidence about incorporating the natural world into their lessons, and motivates them to change the way they teach their students. Your investment in the Outdoor Classroom Special Fund is an opportunity for you to celebrate Esther’s legacy of leadership and sustain her commitment to programs that take kids outdoors to learn about the natural world.

The Outdoor Classroom Special Fund will increase NH Project Learning Tree’s capacity to get kids outside, no matter what the age. Because kids grow in nature, the Outdoor Classroom Special Fund will help:

  • A kindergarten class sort leaves by shape and size as they sit on stumps in the woods  behind the school;
  • Fifth grade students learn about tree identification, wildlife habitat, and forest management as part of NHPLT’s Walk in the Forest field day program;
  • An eighth grade class study invasive species and remove oriental bittersweet from the  border of the athletic field as part of a service learning project; and
  • High school students inventory the flora and fauna of a study plot and develop management strategies for the school forest.

Please make your secure online contribution today or mail your donation to the address below. To designate your contribution to the Outdoor Classroom Special Fund, please indicate the fund name on the last online screen or in the memo line of your check.
