A Project Learning Tree workshop for teachers
interested in organizing outdoor field trips for their
students to investigate their schoolyard and a
local forest or park.
WALK IN THE FOREST GOALS
The goal of the Walk in the Forest program is to provide teachers and their students an opportunity to learn about trees, forests, the environment, and how professionals and Tree Farmers care for New Hampshire’s forests and natural resources.
Participating teachers will be trained in the Project Learning Tree PreK-8 Activity Guide. PLT activities aren't just for teaching science. They cover all disciplines and deal with the total environment -- land, air, and water.
Why You Should Attend
ü Learn strategies and tactics for taking students outdoors safely.
ü Apply basic skills for studying trees, wildlife, and our forests.
ü Receive Project Learning Tree’s PreK-8 Activity Guide, full of classroom-ready activities that meet state standards in all disciplines.
ü Practice skills and activities that you can use to study the schoolyard, town forest, local park, or forests within walking distance of your school.
ü Obtain a list of people and places in your region willing to take YOUR group on a Walk in the Forest.
ü Work with local Tree Farmers and foresters to learn about local natural resources.
